This is an incident from the Dutch League and was a ground breaking incident in regards to where football and sport stands in the Legal department.The story goes that Kokmeijer was playing his first game in his first season for Dutch outfit “Go A head” in a game against Sparta Rottedam in 2004. Sparta player Rachid Bouaouzan made a horrendous attempt at a tackle breaking the leg of Kokmeijer and en ding his career before it had really even begun !
This ground breaking incident in Holland forced the club to ban him for the rest of the season in which there were ten games left and was later taken to court by both Kokmeijer and the Dutch Government for battery in which he was found guilty and sentenced to 5 months in jail
